Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Irinjalakuda, celebrated CBSE Shiksha Saptah with a week of enriching activities aimed at promoting education, skill development, cultural pride, and community engagement. The events held from July 22 to July 28, 2024, reflected the school's commitment to holistic student development.

 

The celebrations began with TLM Day, which encouraged teachers to showcase innovative Teaching Learning Materials (TLM) based on the local context. These materials were creatively incorporated into the teaching-learning process, enhancing engagement and understanding. Teachers utilized locally relevant resources to make learning more meaningful, ensuring that educational content was closely aligned with students' immediate surroundings and experiences.
The focus of FLN Day was on promoting foundational literacy and numeracy skills through interactive and engaging methods. Teachers participated in workshops led by Mrs. Bindumathy, learning innovative instructional strategies. Students were involved in various activities such as storytelling sessions by Mrs. Indira Ajith Kumar, toy-based learning with Mrs. Latha Mohan, and hands-on numeracy exercises with Mrs. Sindhu Vinayan and Mrs. Anjana Jayakumar. These activities aimed to make learning fun and accessible for students, sparking a deeper interest in language and mathematics.
Indigenous Games Day brought students closer to their cultural roots through traditional games like Kuttiyum Kolum, Kho Kho, and Thooppu Kali. Under the guidance of PE teacher Mrs. Rosemi Shiju, students participated enthusiastically, developing physical fitness, strategy, teamwork, and an appreciation for their cultural heritage. These games not only promoted physical well-being but also fostered values of sportsmanship, problem-solving, and social bonding.
The school celebrated Cultural Day with performances that reflected the rich cultural diversity of India. The day began with a captivating dance performance, "Ganesha Sthuthi," followed by a variety of cultural expressions including classical music, group songs, Hindi and Malayalam recitations, and a puppet show. The performances highlighted students' linguistic, artistic, and musical talents, showcasing their creativity and dedication to preserving cultural heritage. A painting activity was also organized for younger students, fostering creativity and self-expression.
Skilling Day was dedicated to hands-on activities that helped students develop essential life skills. Students participated in role-playing exercises for communication and marketing, hackathons, animation storytelling using Scratch software, paper bag making, and environmental awareness activities like water testing and soil fertility analysis. The day also featured a first-aid workshop, equipping students with vital life-saving skills. The event aimed to foster creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility for sustainability.
Eco-Club Mission Day focused on environmental conservation and sustainability. The highlight was the "#Plant4Mother" plantation drive, where students and their mothers planted saplings together, symbolizing a shared commitment to nurturing the environment. A documentary on climate change was screened for senior students, followed by discussions on the importance of sustainable living and how students could contribute to mitigating environmental challenges. Social media was used to disseminate information about the day’s activities, further amplifying the message of environmental responsibility.
